-Character and environment: 3ds Max.
-Normal Map (character's skin): ZBrush -Normal Map (character's clothes and walls): CrazyBump -All textures and maps: Photoshop -Overall tint, glows, blood stains, fog, depth of field and hair: Photoshop -Rendered with Mental Ray in 3ds Max. (6 bounces and 250 of Final Gathering) Character: I used Sub Surface Scattering shader for the skin. I applied a TurboSmooth modifier with 2 iterations over the base mesh of the character (12 000 poly). The final mesh exceeds 170 000 polygons. Environment: The environment is really low poly with self-illumination materials for every lights and glowing objects. I could easily have rendered the fog and the depth of field directly in 3ds Max but I forgot and since rendering a single frame took about 2h, I decided to add them in PS. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Amazing work.
Lately I've seem several great Digital Sci-Fi works with very few page views. Lots of people who will love it don't have the chance to see.
Most of the Sci-Fi clubs I found in DA are dedicated to TV series or movie fans.
I would like to invite you to join us in a new (just starting) Sci-Fi club dedicated
to any kind of digital picture on the sci-fi theme. I hope we can join people that
produce and like to see astounding images.
